About Montien House Weddings
Because we realise that each wedding is incredibly personal, we make sure that we tailor make each occasion to make it as unique as possible for you. We will arrange all of the logistics for you such as catering, photography, music, decoration, etc., and because of our attention to detail, you will not have to worry about anything more than turning up on time!

WEDDIING CEREMONY
In the Kingdom of Thailand, wedding ceremonies follow ancient and rich religious and cultural traditions. Whether you are interested in a quiet secular wedding, a Buddhist blessing ceremony or a Catholic exchange of vows (there is a Catholic Church on Koh Samui, but not a Protestant one), Montien House has the following packages to offer:

Buddhist Ceremony
This ceremony is always held in the mornings. Monks will be invited from a nearby temple to bless the happy couple. To start off the ceremony, the couple will light candles and incense then kneel closely together facing nine monks. The monks will then begin an ancient Sanskrit chant, reciting their blessings upon the couple for around ten minutes, during which time the couple should have their heads bowed and hands joined in a Thai wai as a form of respect. . Blessed string will then be tied around the wrists of the couple by the head abbot followed by fragrant holy water, which will be lightly sprinkled upon the bowed heads of the couple. After gifting the monks with items which will be prepared by Montien House, the couple will receive one more blessing from the abbot who will also pour holy water onto the joined hands of the couple before anointing the couple's forehead with daubs of holy paste.

Traditionally, the couple is now joined.

Catholic Ceremony
The Catholic Church in Chaweng will be where all Catholic weddings are held and the couple needs only bring a letter from their local priest attesting to the fact that both parties are Catholic and are legally eligible for marriage. The ordained - and English speaking! - priest will officiate over the ceremony and once finished, the couple will return to celebrate at Montien House.

Secular Ceremony
This simple ceremony is designed to allow couples to create their own wedding experience through the exchange of their own personal vows. With the backdrop of the sea and sand, slipping a ring on your loved one's finger and sealing the exchange with a lingering kiss, will make for a truly memorable moment.

Please note: Because of the location of the special Sunrise Suite, which is located adjacent to the pool and the beach spot where your ceremony may be held, this allows us to section of an area for your ceremony and is really the only spot to be staying when being wed at Montien House. Other-wise, you may choose to stay at Montien House and hold your ceremony at an alternate location.

• Professional Organiser
  If you are concerned that you won't know what to do during the religious ceremony, or not know what is going on, don't worry! We will provide English speaking staff to help take you through the entire day. Our staff will be helpful and informative, without being intrusive.
  
  
• Flowers and Decoration
  Montien House can create a stunning array of tropical flowers and silken decorations to make the day as special as possible for you. However, if you have any particular decorational desires, please just tell us and we will do our utmost to provide the setting of your dreams.
  
  
• Fireworks
  At night, after your moonlit meal, a spectacular fireworks display can be organised on the water's edge which will light up the sky overhead.
  
  
• Hairdresser and Makeup
  We can recommend both professional hairdresser and makeup artist to make you beautiful for your special day.
  
  
• Spa
  The day before, or indeed during the day, of your wedding, Montien House can take you to a spa on the island to receive body and soul pampering by professionals and to make you both feel refreshed and beautiful for your loved one.

• Photography
  We can provide a professional wedding photographer to capture your most important moments and lingering memories. We realise how important it is for you to have a record of your special day to take home to your friends and family, so every part of the ceremony and everyone involved - including the monks - will be more than happy to pose for photographs with you.
  
  
• Video
  A professional cameraman will also be able to create both video and VCD format of your wedding.
  
  
• Traditional Dance and Music
  If you wish for a truly authentic Thai experience, Montien House can organise a Northern Dance troupe to perform some of the country's most famous and endearing dances accompanied by traditional music
  
  
• Food and Beverage
  Montien House's famous kitchen can create a truly delightful wedding feast for you and your guests. We can either offer you a set menu or you can request what you wish to have and we will try our best to provide it. Our comprehensive wine cellar offers both old and new world wines and we have a full bar.
  
  
• Traditional Clothes
  If you would like to wear traditional Thai costumes to your wedding, then we can either arrange for a tailor to come and take your measurements and we can help to recommend a style, or we can organise to rent a traditional costume for you. However, for both of these options, you will need to arrive on the island at least two days before your wedding.
